Amerikanische Einheiten und Größen
Währung
US-Münzen		Heißen Cent, es gibt sie in 1, 5, 10 und 25-Cent Stücke. Jede Münze hat einen bestimmten Namen: "Penny" für das 1-Cent Stück, "Nickel" für das 5-Cent Stück, "Dime" für das 10-Cent Stück und "Quarter" das 25-Cent Stück.
US-Banknoten		Heißen Dollar, 1 Dollar ($) sind 100 Cent. Es gibt $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 und $100 Scheine. Größere Scheine ab $100 sind normalerweise nicht im Umlauf, obwohl es sie gibt.
Temperatur
Fahrenheit		In den USA wird die Temperatur nicht wie in Deutschland in Grad Celsius, (°C) sondern in Grad Fahrenheit (°F) gemessen. 100 °F entsprechen ca. 38 °C wobei 50 °F nur 10 °C sind. Eine Umrechnung von °F in °C ist also nicht so einfach, man muss folgendermaßen vorgehen: Um von °C in °F umzurechnen multipliziert man die °C zunächst mit 1,8 und addiert anschließend den Wert 32 hinzu (z.B.: 10°C * 1,8 = 18°C + 32 = 50°C). Um von °F in °C umzurechnen muss man zunächst den Wert 32 subtrahieren und dann das ganze durch 1,8 dividieren (z.B.: 100°F - 32 = 68 °F / 1,8 = 37,78 °C). Wem das zu kompliziert ist, der nutzt einfach meinen Umrechnungsrechner!
Längenmaße
Zoll (Inch) Foot Meile		Die Hauptlängenmaße in den USA sind Zoll (oder auch Inch genannt), Foot und Meile. 1 Zoll (") entspricht 25,4 Millimeter (mm), 1 Foot (´) sind 0,3 Meter (m) und 1 Meile (m) hat eine Länge von 1,609 Kilometern (km).
Volumen
Gallone Quart Pints		Statt wie bei uns in Deutschland in Liter , werden in Amerika Flüssigkeiten wie Benzin, aber auch Milch und Säfte überwiegend in US-Gallonen angegeben. Quarts und Pints kommen eher selten vor. 1 Gallone (gal) sind 3,8 Liter (l), 1 Quarts (qt) hat 0,95 Liter und ein Pints (pts) nur 0,47 Liter.
Gewichte
Ounces Pound Ton		Auch was die Gewichtseinheiten betrifft, haben die Amerikaner wieder ein völlig anderes System wie wir in Deutschland. Sie wiegen in Ounces, Pounds und Tons. 1 Ounces (oz) hat das Gewicht von 28 Gramm (g), 1 Pound (lbs) wiegt 0,45 Kilogramm (Kg) und eine Ton (ton) entspricht 0,91 Tonnen (t) unseres Gewichtes.

US Einheitenumrechner
			Auf meiner Homepage, habt ihr nun die Möglichkeit Verschiedenen US Einheiten in europäische Einheiten umzurechen. Selbstverständlich könnt ihr auch europäische Einheiten in amerikanische Einheiten umrechen und da die US Einheiten nicht wie bei uns immer in 1000er Schritten in Kopf umzurechnen sind, gibt es auch dafür was.
